Barber Shop - Hair, Salon, Haircut, Hairstyle - Online
Barber shops have been an important part of day-to-day fashion as well as providers of a centres of social intercourse and gossip for many years. Barbers, in the world of haircutters, are differentiated from hair-stylists in that they principally cut hair (give a haircut), as opposed to also styling and arranging hair (give a hairstyle), from which hair-stylists draw their names. But this doesn't mean that barbers are boring, unskilled, old coots with scissors; up until the end of the 18th century, barbers were also considered surgeons, stitching wounds, leeching, and even pulling teeth.
Thankfully, not to say that barber shops weren't especially accomplished in these activities, it's doubtful that you will have to suffer surgery at the hands of anyone apart from a practiced, qualified medical professional. In a barber salon the only thing you'll have to suffer is a salon haircut or hairstyle; and you most likely won't have to be leeched. Modern barbers are now only called upon for relatively simple haircuts, such as the common taper cut, the flashy pompadour, or the infamous mushroom cut. Some barbers can spruce it up a bit, but nowhere near to the extent that hair-stylists usually perform.
Barber shops offer wide selections of haircuts, above and beyond the few already mentioned, at affordable prices. Indeed, for simple haircuts, it's often best to go to a barber shop since a barber shop will charge lower prices than a hairstylist doing the same cut. Though it would be very difficult to run an online barber shop (virtual scissors?), the Internet does offer many online listings of fine barber shops in a given area. Check the site listing the barber shops nearest you and finally get a haircut and get a real job.
