For many of us, that one mug of steaming coffee in the morning is the time to take a second and relax, preparing ourselves for the day ahead. But just one cup of coffee can't see most of us through the day and its many rigours, so sometimes that moment of relaxation and contentment has to be enjoyed once again. And that is the philosophy behind, and motivating, coffee shops.

Coffee shops, which are very aptly named, offer a relaxed atmosphere in which to enjoy the many varieties of coffee, from standard brews made from common beans to more exotic espresso and latté brews. Many coffee shops also offer menus which may be more or less limited (light pastries, sandwiches, and soup) or more varied and full (simple, but fuller meals than the other). The coffee shops that offer the latter are more often called "diners" because they offer more than just coffee. Also, coffee shops and diners, but most of all coffee shops, are gathering places for many people and also venues for some musical artists, especially those of the folk and beatnik styles.

The charm of coffee shops and diners lies in their relaxed and amicable atmosphere. They offer a place where you can go either to enjoy an aura of friendliness, even if you don't want to directly participate in it, or meet with friends and chat about old times and new all the while sipping on an aromatic cup of coffee and maybe munching on a few cookies. Though you can't exactly buy a cup of coffee online, the Internet does offer broad listings of coffee shops, diners, cafés, etc. and where you can find them as well as the websites of some of the more popular coffee shops which include their menus and the choices of coffee they offer.
